Last year's head coach Ron Alexander has turned the program over to Lori Willadson. A respected coach in Colorado who brought in mostly colorado recruits (6 of 10) but can they compete in the GPAC? Hastings went 27-9 last season under Alexander and lost one of the top liberos the GPAC has seen in recent years in Melynne Kessler. Senior setter Lyndi Rouzee returns after her knee injury last season leaving Willadson with a dilemma, let the senior setter control the offense again after a year off or have sophomore Haley Beardsley stay in control?

With Dana College closing, the GPAC also lost one of its national tournament berths making it even more difficult for the entirely new coaching staff at HC to bring the Broncos to the promised land. First team all conference outside hitter Kendra Schwein will need an even better year next year in her sophomore season if Hastings plans on making a run in the GPAC tournament.

I'm excited to see the new recruits and what they bring to the program, but it will be tough filling the shoes of the former GPAC libero of the year Kessler.
