I know this isn't exactly college sports news, but I thought it was a big topic and example of player's being reinstated with teams. First of all, what do you think about Michael Vick being reinstated into the NFL and/or joining the Eagles? And if you're not into that... What do you think about college players being reinstated after being suspended or kicked off of a college sports team? Does it depend on the situation? Another good example is Jock Sanders being reinstated 6 months after being arrested for a DUI.
I was pretty shocked that Michael Vick was reinstated after the horrific crimes he committed, and I can imagine most Eagles fans had similar feelings. I think athletes reinstatement should be based on their situation. If a college athlete is kicked off a team, I think it is very unlikely that they should be reinstated. Suspension is different though and players should have the opportunity to be reinstated if they have served their punishment.
Whether or not a player is reinstated definitely depends on the situation. However, I think that most players do deserve a second chance. If they mess up again then they do not belong on the field.
I personally believe that Michael Vick did his legal punishment, and is ready to move on. What I dont understand is why people do not think he should get a second chance. Anyways, that is another discussion, but yeah, I believe that players should be able to be reinstated.
