Not only will a 12:30 p.m. EST start time be brutally hot for the Hawaii-Florida game on August 30, it will be inconvenient for the Warriors fans like myself. That's a 6:30 a.m. local start time and as much I love my football, that's pushing it. For West Coast kids who might be looking at Hawaii as a potential destination, it's still a very early 9:30 a.m. start. These games against teams like the Gators are very important recruiting tools for a school like Hawaii. Since not many of the games are even on non-PPV TV on "the mainland" when the Warriors do get televised, it be nice if it was on at a decent hour. Not that the NCAA or TV or Florida is really too concerned about the University of Hawaii or it's football team, but I think it's worth mentioning. Teams like Hawaii play schools such as Florida to use it as a recruiting tool as well as to gain exposure. With Hawaii coming off a one loss season and a BCS bowl apperance, they should give them at least a late afternoon east coast time so the whole country can watch that matchup. A matchup with Florida can do nothing but help in recruiting, but the recruits need to be able to watch the game. Its a shame. AgentOrange1 119 posts since Jan 7, 2008 2. The SEC has a contract with Jefferson-Pilot to have a 12:30 p.m. game every week. Of course the regular networks have their choice and then Jefferson-Pilot gets whatever is left over. On that opening weekend, Vandy/Miami and NC St/South Carolina are being played on Thursday on the ESPN Family. App St/LSU got the 5:00 kick on ESPN while Alabama/Clemson is the ABC Saturday night game. Tennessee/UCLA is being played on Labor Day because ABC get their choice of that game and the regional Saturday night games. ESPN2 then gets a choice for a Saturday early evening game and decided on Miss St (coming off a bowl appearance) against Louisiana Tech. Also, Kentucky/Louisville is always a Sunday game on the first weekend of the year. So J-P has got their choice of the following games for that 12:30 p.m. slot. Arkansas-Western Illinois Auburn-Louisiana-Monroe Ole Miss-Memphis Georgia-Georgia Southern Florida-Hawaii. I would probably take the Florida-Hawaii game as well given that it's Tim Tebow and Hawaii should still be pretty decent. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Gators hang 60 on the Warriors.
