UCLA's hiring of Rick Neuheisel was a mystery to me. He had some success with his teams initially, but their records tailed off the longer he was their. Both the Buffalo's and Husky's programs suffered greatly from his term as coach. Now we get an even more grim view of his tenure as Washington's coach. The disturbing story behind the last great UW team.
Neuheisel may have learned his lesson about NCAA violations, but did he learn lessons about building a team. Neuheisel put winning above too many things. That backfired on him resulting in worse records the longer his tenure.
Great coaches have a lot of admirers. Opponents respect their skill even if they don't like them.
Has Neuheisel turned into a good coach? UCLA took a big gamble.
Totally agree. I thought the NCAA tournament pool stuff was blown way out of proportion but where there's smoke there's fire and Neuheisel was definitely cutting corners at UW. I think the UCLA alums are so starving for a winner that they needed a guy from the family who's got experience.
He'll win there but who knows how he'll do it.
