Jackson, Tenn.-  #21 Loyola University New Orleans women’s
basketball team upset #7 Lambuth University 77-73 in the
Lambuth Classic on Friday night at the Athletic Center on
the Lambuth campus.

With the score tied 71-71, Janee Webb’s jumper gave the
Eagles a 73-71 lead with 1:29 to play.

On the ensuing Wolfpack possession, Colette Morris hit a
three pointer to put Loyola up 74-73 with 1:02 remaining.
Trenese Smith added a free throw to extend the lead to two
points, 75-73 with 26 seconds left.

On Lambuth’s next offensive trip, Madeline Gagneaux took a
charge from Janee Webb with 11 seconds on the clock.  Keiva

to give the Wolfpack the 77-73 victory.

Trenese Smith led with 28 points on 7 for 13 shooting from
the field and 6 of 9 from behind the arc.  She also grabbed
11 rebounds and is now 24 points shy of 2,000 points for her

chipped in 10 off the bench.

Loyola (3-0) played all but the first minute of the game
without All-GCAC player Trenell Smith, who left with a knee
injury.

“Despite the fact that her sister went down with an
injury, Trenese Smith led our team as I knew she would.  She
played forty minutes and controlled our club in a great
victory for us.  We also got great play from our bench and
made some great shots and got stops on the defensive end
when we needed them,” said Loyola head coach Kellie
Kennedy.

For Lambuth (6-4), Janee Webb led with 27 points on 10 of 23
shooting from the field.  Daumonique Lenhardt scored 16.

In the first half, Loyola led by as many as nine points with
Lauren Pryer’s layup off a pass from Keiva Council, giving
the Wolfpack a 23-14 lead at the 12:37 mark.

Lambuth rallied to outscore the Wolfpack 33-16 the rest of
the half.  Daumonique Lenhardt sparked the rally with field
goals on three consecutive Lambuth possessions to cut the
lead to 23-20 with 11:17 remaining in the half.

After a Wolfpack turnover, LaTonya McKinney cut the Loyola
lead to one point with a jumper at 10:09.  Trenese Smith
answered for Loyola with a three pointer and a lay-in on the
ensuing Wolfpack possessions to push the lead back up to six
points with 9:13 to play in the half.  She had 16 points in
the first half.

Later, the Eagles scored seven unanswered points to take
their first lead of the game as Katherine Snodgrass’s
three pointer made the score 31-30 at 6:01.

Lauren Pryer gave Loyola their last lead of the half with a
bucked on the next possession.

Lambuth went on a 12-0 run with the last nine points coming
from Janee Webb to give the Eagles a 43-32 lead with 2:11 to
play.  Webb had 14 points in the first half.

Loyola extended their regular season winning streak to 13
