Portland, Ore.- Lewis & Clark head softball coach Shawna Feldt has announced her 2010 recruiting class. The recruiting class includes: Caitlin Basilio, Sarah Breninger, Taylor Gatti, Natalie Rose, and Ariel Wilks.

Basilio is an infielder from Aiea, Hawaii and played at Mililani High School. As a senior she was a Conference All-Star selection and as a junior was part of a state championship team. She was also the winner of the Miliani HS Golden Scholar award and a three-year member of the National Honor Society. “Caitlin will add depth to our infield and speed to our lineup.  Coming from championship caliber teams, she knows what it takes to win, and we're excited to have her winning mentality," says coach Feldt.

Breninger is a catcher from Cleveland High School in Portland Ore. and the sister of Pioneer pitcher Kristen Breninger. As a senior she was the Portland Interscholastic League Conference Player of The Year. She was a four-time First-Team All-PIL Conference selection and two-time Second-Team All-State selection. She was also a Scholar Athlete in all four years of high school and a National Honor Society member for three of those years. "Sarah is a phenomenal athlete, with an incredibly strong arm.  She will help us behind the plate catching and with her powerful bat in the lineup.  She'll be a great addition to our team, and it's always nice having sisters on the team!"

Gatti is an outfielder from Campolindo High School in Moraga, Calif. She was a two-time First-Team All-Conference player and a two-time North Coast Section Scholar Athlete. "Taylor is an extremely quick slapper which we very much need in our offense.  She puts the ball in play and also adds more speed to our lineup.  She's a solid outfielder who will definitely help our team next year."

Rose is a pitcher originally from Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, Ore. and will be transferring as a sophomore from John Carrol University. She was a three-time All-Conference pitcher and an Honorable Mention All-State selection.  Also, she was the Lakeridge HS Valedictorian and a German National Honors Society member. "Natalie is a terrific pitcher who we are excited about coming home back to Oregon and Lewis & Clark.  She will bring depth to our pitching staff and a hard- working, winning mentality as a pitcher."

Wilks is a utility player from Marin Academy in San Rafael, Calif. She was a four-time First-Team All-Conference selection, three-time team Most Valuable Player, and was voted Rookie of The Year. She was also a multi-sport athlete, earning her letter all four years in both basketball and volleyball. “I see Ari being a great utility player for us.  She catches, plays infield and outfield.  We will utilize her all over the field, and are excited to see what she can bring to LC Softball."
